How To Dismiss Banner Notifications In iOS 5
Touch and pull down slightly on the banner, then flick it up and away. (You’re really activating Notification Center for a moment, but it has such a terrific, tactile feeling to it.) Alternatively… “Swipe” from right to left. (You’re really not swiping, it’s a subtle down up motion that’s a faster but not as reliable version of the above.) /via Shawn Blanc

“I will never let a story reel go into production without it being great… I can show you early versions of the Pixar films when they are terrible. Every Pixar film was the worst motion picture made at one time or another. People don’t believe that but it’s true. We don’t give up on the films… we work, and re-work these story reels and [only] then we go into production. We then do the staging...

manspeaker: Tonight we tried to pass a Domestic Partnership Registry in our city. It would provide some fundamental basic rights for same sex couples. Kansas has a constitutional amendment against same sex marriage so registry was the next best thing. The news story is here if you are interested. Long… Reminds me of the quote, “Don’t let those who say it can’t be done...

officially rad: Happy Accidents →
This is a crazy/amazing story. /via officiallyrad: Peter Molyneux, one of the video game industry’s most celebrated designers and the creative force behind hits such as “Fable,” “Populous” and “Dungeon Keeper,” credits much of his 22-year career to a happy accident involving baked beans. It happened shortly after he graduated from university. Molyneux already had tried his hand at game design...

Really engaging 3D projection-mapping from Klip for Target’s Spring meeting. I feel sorry for any Powerpoint-toting presenter who had to go on after this.

deepil: “Creative people are basically this 50-50 blend of ego and insecurity. From an ego standpoint, you think you’re hot shit, but really, deep down, when you go to bed at night, you go, ‘I don’t know if I’m good enough. I’ll try to make it better tomorrow.’ “ -Lee Clow, CCO / Global Director TBWA\Worldwide

I Made a New Thing
The Single Topic Blogs of Single Topic Blogs - wherein, on a daily basis, I attempt to chart the phenomenon of blogs that are focussed on a single topic1. They’re usually (but not always) hosted on tumblr and many involve hipsters, animals, awkward photos or some combination of those topics, although I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the diversity of STBs I’ve found so far. This...
